Leather bar stools and designer bar stools made from fabric and other materials are an essential addition to any bar but they also find use in a variety of other commercial settings. Leather stools, in particular, are very popular with owners as well as clients because of the beauty and comfort that leather has to offer. Designer stools, which include a variety of unusual designs and features, are also very popular and can be bought in a selection of colours and styles to match the decor of any room or establishment.

The Standard Bar Stool Design

Believe it or not there is a standard design that even includes a required height measurement. The standard, historical design is one of four legs and a round seat and while modern stools include backs and arm rests these are later additions to the standard design. The usual height measurement of a bar stool is 30″ although common variations on the standard bar stool include shorter and taller measurements.

Another standard feature of the bar stool is a foot rest that is also used to help improve the stability of the stool. The height and narrowness is what helped to make them a popular seating option in bars; they allowed for the seating of many people in a relatively small space.

Bar Stool Materials

Modern materials can vary greatly from the traditional wood framed stools. Wood remains a popular choice because it is affordable and offers natural good looks that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Resin, aluminum, metal, and other materials can be used in place of the wood to create unique designs that cater to any style of decor and interior design.

The Cushion

When choosing a designer bar stool it is also important to consider the soft cushioning that is usually added to the seat. Polyurethane foam is the most common cushion filler for this purpose and the cushion can be covered in any of a number of materials. Buyers should ensure that they choose a material that not only looks good but is easy to maintain and hardwearing.

Leather Stools

Leather stools are very popular because of the beauty and elegance that leather offers. The frame is still typically made from wood. This frame is finished so that it can be left on display and the cushion, as well as arm and back rest may be covered in leather to give a more unique and beautiful look.

Modern Designs

The design of the frame is one area where many advancements have been introduced. As well as the plain, elegant straight legged design, legs can be tapered or bevelled. They can slant outwards for greater stability and in some cases they may even be covered in the same high quality leather to give the most luxurious finish.
